| Vibriosis is a major disease problem in shrimp aquaculture, affecting all developmental stages, from larvae in hatchery tanks to juveniles and broodstock in growout ponds. However, bacterial strains responsible for vibriosis in the successive stages are usually considered to be different, and virulence specificity has been reported both at the species and at the stage levels. The so-called « Syndrome 93 » is a seasonal juvenile vibriosis caused by Vibrio penaeicida which affects Penaeus stylirostris in growout ponds and broodstock tanks in New Caledonia. | Changes in sperm features during the movement phase are especially interesting to study in external fertilization species whose sperm duration movement is long because this implies a significant adaptation of moving cells to the external medium. This study describes the changes in tetraploid Pacific oyster sperm characteristics in relation to time post activation. | Ce rapport fait état d'une étude réalisée au laboratoire de Génétique et Pathologie de l'IFREMER dans le cadre de l'analyse d'épisodes de mortalité anormale survenue en écloserie privée de crevettes pénéides. Plusieurs hypothèses ont été avancées. La présence de Vibrio harveyi a amené à constituer une collection de 40 souches à partir desquelles une identification bactériologique a été effectuée. Elle montre en effet une dominance de souches appartenant à un groupe homogène de Vibrio harveyi. | Consistent with the fact that ribonucleotides (rNTPs) are in excess over deoxyribonucleotides (dNTPs) in vivo, recent findings indicate that replicative DNA polymerases (DNA Pols) are able to insert ribonucleotides (rNMPs) during DNA synthesis, raising crucial questions about the fidelity of DNA replication in both Bacteria and Eukarya. Here, we report that the level of rNTPs is 20-fold higher than that of dNTPs in Pyrococcus abyssi cells. | Une expérience a été réalisée en conditions hivernales dans six bassins de terre pour déterminer l'effet des taux de renouvellement sur la production de crevettes Penaeus stylirostris, sur les caractéristiques de l'eau et du sédiment des enceintes d'élevage. Les budgets d'azote ont été établis en prenant en compte les différentes formes azotées dans l'eau, dans le sédiment, dans l'aliment et dans les crevettes. | The work presented here reports the expression of immune-related genes during ontogenesis in the oyster Crassostrea gigar. Expression patterns of 18 selected genes showed that RNAs detected in oocytes and 2-4 cell embryos are of maternal origin and that gene transcription starts early after fertilization. The expression patterns of 4 genes (Cg-timp, Cg-tal, Cg-EcSOD and Drac3) suggested that hemocytes appear in the gastrula-trochophore stages. | L'ostréiculture française réalise une production très largement extensive, basée sur le recrutement de juvéniles dans le milieu naturel et la production sur des sites côtiers. Ainsi, l’huître est l’une des rares espèces cultivées à être encore considéré par le consommateur comme un produit alimentaire totalement « naturel ». L'utilisation de la polyploïdisation a permis d'ouvrir une nouvelle voie dans cette filière, en permettant d'obtenir des animaux à croissance plus rapide, plus homogènes et stériles. | Since the outbreaks of the parasitosis with Marteilia refringens and Bonamia ostreae in the last 60's, the French production of the European flat oyster dropped from 20000 mT to less than 1500 mT currently, leaving the French shellfish farming in situation of virtually monoculture of the Pacific cupped oyster Crassostrea gigas.
